Our Story

Makerspace Innovation Center Prizren (MICP) started as an initiative in 2017 by ICT enthusiasts and professionals in the city of Prizren. It serves as a hub for students, ICT enthusiasts, and individuals with common interests. Initially, MICP focused on training, coworking spaces, and networking events for the community. Over time, as its capacities and team expanded, it has become an important pillar that promotes innovation, education, and entrepreneurship in Prizren and beyond.

Currently, located in the Innovation and Training Park in Prizren (ITP Prizren), Makerspace Innovation Center Prizren offers the following components:

Vocational education and training programs with a focus on employment
Support for entrepreneurship and business startups
Coworking space
MakersLab – a creative industry laboratory
Community-focused networking events and activities

As an active part of ITP Prizren, we are one of the training providers with a special focus on employment. Our training programs, adapted to the modern labor market, include Frontend Web Development, Backend Web Development, Graphic Design, Photography, Video Editing, CNC Operation, Accounting with Software and Taxes, Social Network Management, Modeling and 3D Printing.

In addition to training, we also provide support for entrepreneurs and startup businesses who want to develop and grow their business ideas. Our entrepreneurship and startup incubation programs offer mentoring sessions with foreign and local experts, aiming to foster an entrepreneurial spirit, create sustainable businesses, and generate new jobs in the region of Prizren and beyond.

At Makerspace Innovation Center Prizren we offer various resources, including coworking spaces. These spaces have become increasingly popular among independent professionals and those working remotely for foreign employers. Alongside coworking spaces, we provide access to meeting rooms, a shared kitchen for breaks, 24-hour facility access, and the opportunity to participate in community events.

Furthermore, our center features a fully equipped laboratory with lasers and CNC machines. This valuable facility allows students and trainees to practice their skills and utilize the materials acquired during their training, specifically for modeling and 3D printing, and CNC operation. Students can also utilize the laboratory for research and the development of products and prototypes.

Lastly, our activities and networking events at Makerspace Innovation Center Prizren deserve special recognition. These events aim to bring together professionals from various fields, fostering new and fruitful relationships among members of the MICP community who share common interests.

Summer camp of Kosovar youth from diaspora 2023

The “Summer camp of Kosovar youth from diaspora 2023” project, was designed with the idea of intertwining of cultures and interests between the Kosovar youth abroad and the culture, traditions and national identity. The different social and educational activities pointed out the will and interest of the young people from the diaspora to create new projects in the future in the fields of art and technology, while proving the importance of cooperation between diaspora and the local community.

Idea to Scale – Cohort 1

The business incubation program “Idea to Scale”, started a strategic 5-year journey in 2022. The goal of the program is to support and help initial ideas of the young and talented people who are very skilled entrepreneurs, through the launching of their startup businesses. The first cohort of this program lasted 12 months, offering mentorship from experts of the business fields and other industries, educative workshops, financial support through the grant, co-working space, being a part of events for creating new partnerships and networking with professionals with similar interests. The first cohort of the program ended in November of 2023, marking the success of 10 startups that started their journey through development and growth.

PowerUp: Digital Career 1

In July of 2023, we started the program for digital skills and employment known as “PowerUp: Digital Career”, focused on the fields of Graphic Design and Programming. In collaboration with the Municipality of Prizren and the Help Kosovo organisation, the training sessions were offered completely free for the beneficiaries.

Në fillim të shtatorit, të vitit 2021, filluam implementimin e projektit përmes të cilit ne synuam të promovojmë dhe zhvillojmë një ekosistem të qëndrueshëm në ITP Prizren, i fokusuar në fushat që ITP ka gjithashtu në vizionin e tij si: TIK, Aktivitetet mbështetëse për startup-ët, teknologjitë prodhuese, Dizajn dhe aktivitete të tjera dixhitale, duke i gërshetuar në aktivitete të kombinuara si, takime të hapura, hackathons, gara dhe kampe.

StartuPZ – “Programi për nxitjen e të rinjve për të zhvilluar biznese të qëndrueshme start-up”

Nga tetori i vitit 2022, Makerspace - Innovation Center Prizren (MICP) ka implementuar programin e bashkëfinancuar nga Komuna e Prizrenit dhe vetë Makerspace IC Prizren. “StartuPZ” – Programi për nxitjen e të rinjve për të zhvilluar biznese të qëndrueshme “start-up”, ka përfshirë trajnimin dhe ofrimin e skemës së granteve për përkrahjen e ndërmarrësve të rinj dhe bizneseve ekzistuese që do të ndihmojë në stimulimin e të rinjve për zbatimin e ideve të tyre të biznesit.

Skill-up Training Program

Me fillim nga muaji shtator, 2022 ne filluam me implementimin e një projekti që përmbante në vete një program gjithëpërfshirës që synon trajnimin e të rinjve të papunësuar. Ky program ka përfshirë trajnime në dy fusha mjaft të kërkuara të tregut: Dizajn Grafik dhe Kontabilitet me softuer dhe tatime.
